Dear Ms Clugston,

We write further to your email of 22^nd January made under the terms of
the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust's response against each
element of your request is shown below.

Do you provide access to an Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor?

The Trust does not have a specific IDAA but systems and processes support
staff to signpost to IDAS.  The Trust Safeguarding teams are also
available to support staff who observe/suspect or have domestic abuse
disclosed to them and make the relevant referrals whether that is to IDAS,
MARAC, local authority Safeguarding Adult and Children teams and/or the
police.

If yes, do you provide access to an IDAA at every hospital site?

As above.  The safeguarding teams are available in office hours and the
staff intranet provides guidance to support out of hours.

Do you employ a domestic abuse specialist nurse?

We do not employ a domestic abuse specialist nurse, but our safeguarding
advisors have the expertise to support both staff and patients in domestic
abuse situations.

If yes, do you employ a domestic abuse specialist nurse at every hospital
site?

N/a

Do you have a Domestic Abuse policy? If yes, please provide a copy.

As attached, but please note that this is currently being updated and
reviewed.

Do you produce an annual safeguarding report on domestic abuse?

The Leads for Safeguarding are expected to submit annual reports to the
Executive Board for the Trust, this would include safeguarding activity
(which includes domestic abuse referrals either to IDAS and/or MARAC)

Do you conduct internal audits to ensure compliance to the domestic abuse
policy?

Any policy is subject to management by the Trust Policy manager and
policies are typically reviewed three yearly or following any change in
legislation.

Have you conducted training for staff on domestic abuse in the last 12
months. If no, in the last 24 months?

Staff training for safeguarding includes a typically face-to-face module
on domestic abuse for half a day.  This is valid for three years.
Domestic Abuse training has been provided in a bespoke model for our
Emergency Department staff from October to December2020 and forms part of
the ED staff induction package.

How many domestic abuse, stalking and harassment (DASH) risk assessments
were completed by the trust/health board in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and
2020?

Information on this is not held.

How many domestic abuse, stalking and harassment (DASH) referrals were
made by the trust/health board to a Multi-Agency Risk Assessment
Conference in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020?

2016 3

2017 0

2018 8

2019 17

2020 23

We hope that this meets the terms of your request and that the information
supplied will be of use to you.

Yours sincerely
