Domestic Abuse Incidents

We're waiting for E Martin to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear West Mercia Police,

Further to the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would be most
grateful if you could provide the following information regarding
incidents of domestic abuse:

1) The number of domestic abuse related crimes logged on the Force’s
Crime Reporting Information System for each of the years from 2010
to present, broken down by month, if available.

2) The People Proceeded Against data relating to the aforementioned
crimes, broken down by gender, if available. By People Proceeded Against data, I refer to the number of people charged/cautioned etc. I do not request the number of court prosecutions as I understand that this would require a manual search.

3) The number of domestic abuse related non crimes (incidents) logged on the
Force’s Crime Reporting Information System for each of the years
from 2010 to present, broken down by month, if available.

4) Details of any organisation or service commissioned to provide
victims’ services in the Force’s area

With best wishes,

Mrs E Martin

Dear Mrs Martin
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: RFI 6819/15
I write in connection with your request for information which was received
on 27^th November 2015. Please find below the response to your request:
Provide the following information regarding incidents of domestic abuse:
1) The number of domestic abuse related crimes logged on the Force’sCrime
Reporting Information System for each of the years from 2010 to present,
broken down by month, if available.
2) The People Proceeded Against data relating to the aforementioned
crimes, broken down by gender, if available. By People Proceeded Against
data, I refer to the number of people charged/cautioned etc. I do not
request the number of court prosecutions as I understand that this would

3) The number of domestic abuse related non crimes (incidents) logged on
the Force’s Crime Reporting Information System for each of the years from
2010 to present, broken down by month, if available.
REPLY: Please see the attached tables.
Information has been provided for all crimes with a domestic abuse marker
and which are grouped under the HMIC Crime Tree category of violence
against the person in West Mercia between 01/01/2010 and 30/11/2015, and
all incidents where the 'Event description' matches pattern 'domestic'.
4) Details of any organisation or service commissioned to provide victims’
services in the Force’s area
REPLY: Victims Support offer wide service user support, covering a
spectrum of offending types and the victims of offending.

There are a range of partnerships engaged with across the West Mercia area
who Police may elect to refer to for onward support and signposting or
because there is a statutory responsibility to safeguard children from
harm or Adults at risk. Fundamentally these will commence with Local
Authority arrangements but also include specific and specialist support
offered by services such as Independent Domestic Abuse Advisors (IDVA's)
who operate under Women's Aid. Other facilities and services are offered
though The Glade where offending involves sexual offending, which may
include access to Crisis Workers and counselling. The OPCC has provided
funding to increase this service.

Please note that the Police are not always required to commission
processes, but instead it is important to listen to the victim, their
needs and that of their families before approaching partners as to the
most appropriate provision of service.
