Domestic Abuse and No Recourse to Public Funds

We're waiting for Samet Alves to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Portsmouth City Council,

I would like to know all the statistics in Portsmouth in relation to how many people approach you due to fleeing Domestic Abuse. I would also like to know how many immigrants in Portsmouth approach Portsmouth City Council due to fleeing an abusive relationship and how many of them are funded to be in a Refuge.

I would be very grateful if you could provide any policy that is in place on how immigrants feeling abusive relationships are dealt with by the council, including whether or not they have any children.

Yours faithfully,

Sam Alves

YOUR REQUEST & OUR RESPONSE:

I would like to know all the statistics in Portsmouth in relation to how
many people approach you due to fleeing Domestic Abuse.

We do not collect information in relation to how many people approach us
due to fleeing domestic abuse, however, we can advise that of the homeless
applications made to us between 01/04/18 and 31/03/19, the stated reason
for homelessness was domestic abuse in 125 cases.

I would also like to know how many immigrants in Portsmouth approach
Portsmouth City Council due to fleeing an abusive relationship and how
many of them are funded to be in a Refuge.
Information not held.

I would be very grateful if you could provide any policy that is in place
on how immigrants feeling [sic] abusive relationships are dealt with by
the council, including whether or not they have any children.

We do not have a bespoke policy, however, in a housing perspective, PCC
would apply existing homelessness legislation and follow national
guidance.

the permission of Portsmouth City Council.
