Dog wardens

The request was successful.

Dear South Norfolk District Council,

1. For each year from 2005/6 to 2018/19 could you please tell me the total number of w.t.e (whole time equivalent) dog wardens you employ?

2. For each year from 2005/6 to 2018/19 how many Commercial Breeding Establishments are there for dogs? (Commercial Breeding Establishments defined as 5 or more litters per year).

Yours faithfully,

H. Guite

Good afternoon

I refer to your Freedom of Information request to which I am now in a
position to respond. My response is outlined below along with your
questions for ease of reference.

1. For each year from 2005/6 to 2018/19 could you please tell me the total
number of w.t.e (whole time equivalent) dog wardens you employ? We only
hold data going back to 2014, however can report that the answer is Zero
in each year from 2014.

2. For each year from 2005/6 to 2018/19 how many Commercial Breeding
Establishments are there for dogs? (Commercial Breeding Establishments
defined as 5 or more litters per year).

2005: 2

2006: 2

2007: 2

2008: 3

2009: 3

2010: 3

2011: 3

2012: 3

2013: 3

2014: 3

2015: 5

2016: 5

2017: 6

2018: 11

2019: 14

Please note that prior to 2018,  commercial dog breeders would have a
licence if they were breeding and selling more than 5 litters a year.

From 2018 dog breeders were required to apply for a licence under the new
legislation. Such breeders intend to have 3 or more litters in a 12 month
period and make more than £1000 profit.

I hope this is of assistance and is sufficient to meet your requirements,
but if, for whatever reason you wish to get back to me, please feel free
to do so. In particular if you are unhappy with the information provided
or how your request was handled please let me know and I will explain how
you can request an internal review of our decision.

Please quote FOI 19-273 in any further correspondence concerning this
request.

Regards
