John H Hutchinson

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
What, please, was the number of petition signatures collected (Wirral Globe says "thousands of whom signed an online petition against the plans" https://www.wirralglobe.co.uk/news/17731...) and what was the number of complaints received in the Finacial Year 2018/2019 that caused Council to re-think its dog control policy?

Yours faithfully,

John H Hutchinson

InfoMgr, FinDMT, Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council

Dear Mr Hutchinson

Thank you for your recent request made under the Freedom of Information
Act.

Your request of 27 June 2019 stated :

“Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council, What, please, was the number of
petition signatures collected (Wirral Globe says "thousands of whom signed
an online petition against the plans" )

and what was the number of complaints received in the Financial Year
2018/2019 that caused Council to re-think its dog control policy?”

We can confirm as part of the consultation exercise on proposed dog
control measures the Council received a petition of over 15,000
signatures.   We can advise that the evidence is published on our website
at the following link,
[2]https://www.wirral.gov.uk/environmental-...
This includes details of complaints and register of concerns from the
residents (appendix of the evidence base) up until June 2018, when the
consultation exercise commenced.

Whilst those proposed measures did not proceed, Wirral Council is
continuing to explore options for appropriate dog control measures for
Wirral’s open spaces.

We trust that this information is of assistance to you.

Yours sincerely
