Does the Tony Blair Institute For Social Change have Permission to use the word "Institute" in its title?

The request was successful.

Dear Companies House,

The former Prime Minister Tony Blair in 2016 registered the Tony Blair Institute for Social Change. Has the use of the title “Institute” been approved by the Secretary for state and if so what information was provided by the applicant and what correspondence was there before approval was given. Please provide a copy of the application any subsequent correspondence and the approval.

Yours faithfully,

George Rosenberg

Dear Mr Rosenberg

I refer to your request for information in your email of 20 December 2017.

Your request concerns the Tony Blair Institute for Social Change and you
asked:

‘Has the use of the title “Institute” been approved by the Secretary for
state and if so what information was provided by the applicant and what
correspondence was there before approval was given. Please provide a copy
of the application any subsequent correspondence and the approval’.

I have searched the public register but I am unable to find a company with
that name. Companies House does not hold the information requested.

If you are dissatisfied with the result of your request for information
you may request an internal review within two calendar months of the date
of this email. The case will be reviewed by a senior member of staff who
has had no previous involvement in this case.

Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future
communications.

If you are then not content with the outcome of the internal review, you
have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision.  Further information can be found at [1]www.ico.org.uk

Yours sincerely

Dear Ceri Harnett,
Thank you for your response. The Tony Blair Institute for Social Change has a web site at https://institute.global/our-mission and states the following:

Tony Blair Institute, trading as Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, is a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales (registered company number: 10505963) whose registered office is 50 Broadway, London, SW1H 0BL.

I would be grateful if you would review your response by also checking whether the Tony Blair Institute had permission to use the word "institute".

Yours sincerely,

George Rosenberg

Dear Mr Rosenberg
The link that you have provided links to the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change not The Tony Blair Institute for Social Change?

Your request concerned the Tony Blair Institute for Social Change which is not a company on our register and therefore the information is not held.
Please would you confirm whether you still require an internal review of my response.

I have looked at the link you have provided it appears that the company Tony Blair Institute, trades as the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.
Companies House does not have a company on the register with the name the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change but is does show a company Tony Blair Institute.

I will, as requested, look for the information previously requested but for the company Tony Blair Institute. This will be treated as a new Freedom of Information request. Please note the new reference FOI 07/01/18. If you require my response to this new request to be sent to a different email address please let me know

Yours sincerely
