Does the council own portable toilet units
Dear Merton Borough Council,
Before Covid Mitcham Carnival featured toilet units that were, I have been told, owned by Merton Council.
At the 2023 Carnival, hired toilet units were used.
Is it correct that Merton Council owned toilet units before Covid? If so how many, and why were they disposed of.
Thank you,
Yours faithfully,
Sandra Vogel

Dear Sandra Vogel,

2004 Information request
Thank you for your Freedom of Information Request.
We have now considered your information request as set out below.
Your Question:

Is it correct that Merton Council owned toilet units before Covid? If so,
how many, and why were they disposed of?
Our Response:
The 2023 carnival was organised by partners who do not work for the
council, and it is likely they were not aware of the fact that the council
owned toilet units. It is correct that the council owned toilet units
before covid, although the units are no longer in a good enough condition
to allow the public to use; they will require disposal and Greenspaces
colleagues will look at various options going forward to either dispose of
or repair. There are two units of 5 cubicles in each unit.
If you have any queries or concerns about this, please contact me.
If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request or wish to
appeal against the decision to exempt any part of your request, you should
request an Internal Review at [1][Merton Borough Council request email] or write into Freedom
of Information team, Merton Council, Civic Centre, Morden, SM4 5DX.
If you escalate to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) without
following the council’s internal review process, the ICO will refer you
back to the council to enable the correct process to be followed.
You can also appeal to the Information Commissioner at:
