Doctors surgeries ran by private healthcare providers

The request was successful.

Dr Shahida Khan

Dear NHS England,

I would like to request under the Freedom of Information Act a list of all of the private healthcare providers that are running primary care services (Doctors Surgeries) in the UK.

These will be private limited companies, LLPs or partnerships that have been awarded to service NHS contracts and will likely be running a number of GP services. An example of such is Malling Health which is a company that runs services in 40+ doctors surgeries.

I would like to request the names of the companies, the number of surgeries of where they run contracts and their head office address.

Yours faithfully,

Dr Shahida Khan

Dear FOI England (NHS ENGLAND),

Many thanks for your response. In response to your questions:

• What is meant by the term private providers in the context of your request. Technically all the contractors are private so I would be grateful if you would clarify this further.
Answer: The term private providers is those companies which are not run as "traditional partnerships" i.e. my a team of Partners who all work in the surgery that they are a partner of.

• Please advise if it is just corporate organisations that you are interested in, as your request also mentions partnerships.
Answer: Yes, it is just corporate organisations I am interested in which will have multiple sites. However, my request did mention partnerships because, for example, some 'corporate' organisations describe themselves as Partnerships e.g. Vitality Partnership which runs many surgeries in Birmingham.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Shahida Khan
