Dear General Medical Council,

Please could you provide me with the number of doctors registered with a licence to practice for each of the below specialties, and top 5 PMQ countries for each of the below specialties:

Oncology - (no. doctors registered with License to practice, and top 5 PMQ countries)

under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

 

I have listed below the numbers of registered and licensed doctors (at 13
August 2017) in these specialty groups, together with the top five
countries represented by Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ).

 

•        Oncology specialty (includes Clinical oncology, Gynaecological
Oncology, Medical oncology, Obstetrics and gynaecology/Gynaecological
Oncology, Oncological Surgery, Orthopaedic Oncology, Paediatric Oncology,
Radiation Oncology):  total 1,719 and the top 5 PMQ countries are UK,
India, Italy, Pakistan and Greece.

 

•        Radiology specialty (Cardiac Radiology, Clinical radiology,
Diagnostic radiology, Musculo-skeletal Radiology, Neuroradiology,
Paediatric Radiology, Radiology): 4,684 and the top 5 PMQ countries are
UK, India, Ireland, Pakistan and Greece.

 

•        Gastroenterology specialty (Gastroenterology,
Gastroenterology/Hepatology, Paediatric Gastro-enterology, Paediatric
Nutrition and Gastro-enterology, Surgical Gastro-enterology) : 1,828 and
the top 5 PMQ countries are UK, India, Pakistan, Greece and Ireland.

 

•        Haematology specialty (General haematology, Haematology,
Immuno-haematology, Paediatric Haematology): 1,365 and the top 5 PMQ
countries are UK, India, Greece, Italy and Pakistan.

 

•        Dermatology specialty (Dermatology, Dermatology and Venereology,
Paediatric Dermatology):  979 and the top 5 PMQ countries are UK, India,
Pakistan, Ireland and South Africa.

 

Please note that holding Specialist registration does not necessarily
indicate that a  doctor is working as a Specialist, and a doctor is not
restricted to working in their registered specialty.
