Do you recognise FRUEC5 as Technician with private providers?

The request was successful.

Dear East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust,

I would like to know if you accept and recognise the First Response Emergency Care pathway. In particular I would like to know if you recognise the First Response Urgent and Emergency Care Level 5 as a Technician level qualification. If so, do you allow private providers (such as Elite EMS, Central Medical Services, Jigsaw etc) to employ people with FRUEC Level 5 on their frontline contracts with EoEAS as Technicians and practice as Technicians/at Technician level.

If so, please provide support documentation that this is an approved Technician qualification that you accept for private provider staff.

Yours faithfully,

Anonymous FRUEC5 qualified person.

Yours faithfully,

Joel Whitaker

Dear Joel

Further to your email dated 10th February 2021, please find the Trust's
response below.  Your request has been allocated the following reference:
31791, please could you quote this reference in any future correspondence
with the Trust.

I would like to know if you accept and recognise the First Response
Emergency Care pathway. In particular I would like to know if you
recognise the First Response Urgent and Emergency Care Level 5 as a
Technician level qualification. If so, do you allow private providers
(such as Elite EMS, Central Medical Services, Jigsaw etc) to employ people
with FRUEC Level 5 on their frontline contracts with EoEAS as Technicians
and practice as Technicians/at Technician level.

If so, please provide support documentation that this is an approved
Technician qualification that you accept for private provider staff.

We do accept FREC/FREUC level 5 as an EMT, this decision was updated on
the 13^th January 2021, previously this qualification only worked at
ECA/ECSW level.

EEAST includes FREC5 as a technician level qualification as part of our
Private Ambulance Service contracts. Our contracts with PAS services have
now been updated to include this. Contracts are commercially confidential
but please take this as confirmation that Private Ambulance Services can
now take a FREC5 as a technician level qualification as part of EEAST’s
contracts.

I am obliged to advise you that if you are dissatisfied with the Trust’s
response to your request you have a right to complain to the Trust and
should set out your concerns to the Freedom of Information Officer, EEAST,
Hospital Approach, Broomfield, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 7WS or by email to
[1][East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust request email]. If you remain dissatisfied following this, you have
a right under Section 50 of the FOIA to seek a determination from the
Information Commissioner on whether the Act has been properly applied by
the Trust. For more information, please see [2]www.ico.gov.uk/

Under the Accessible Information Standard the Trust is required to ask our
FoI applicants equality and diversity questions. You are under no
obligation; however we would be grateful if you could complete the form
attached and email this back to us.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further
information.

Kind regards

FoI Officer

East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust
