Do West Yorkshire police carry Naloxone as part of their kit and are they trained to use it?

The request was successful.

Dear West Yorkshire Police,

I am writing with the following enquiries.

1) Are any members of West Yorkshire police issued with Naloxone as part of their first aid kit and if so are they trained in how to use it?

2) If some members of West Yorkshire police are issued with Naloxone as part of their first aid kit and training, approximately what percentage of West Yorkshire police officers carry the drug and are trained to use it?

3) If some but not all members of West Yorkshire police are issued with Naloxone and trained to use it, what criteria is used to decide which officers or policing teams are issued the drug and trained to use it? Are there some policing areas where it is used and some where it isn't - if so, in which policing areas is it currently in use?

4) If Naloxone is currently not issued to any members of West Yorkshire police and/or they are not trained in its proper use, have there been any discussions about changing this - for example introducing Naloxone as part of the standard first aid kit members of West Yorkshire police carry, or introducing it to a certain percentage of officers, certain policing teams, etc?

5) If the answer to question 4 is no, is this something you are willing to consider in future?

Yours faithfully,

Jamie Webster
