Subject: Freedom of Information request - Disposable masks for staff

Dear Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust,

Do you provide all frontline staff (ie those dealing face to face with
patients) with the option of using a Trust approved and supplied
disposable mask ? Yes. The Trust has a fit-testing service and staff are
required to be fit-tested every two years and pass on two masks as per the
national requirements. We have a selection of 12 masks that staff can be
fit-tested on.

Please also supply a copy of your written policy covering this. The Trust
does not have a specific fit-testing policy as this covers all PPE
requirements.

Dear Mr Shockley,

Firstly, apologies for the delay in responding.  I have reviewed both your
original request and the Trust’s response and liaised with both the FOI
team and the teams who provided the information I can advise that the
correct response should have been as follows:-

Do you provide all frontline staff (ie those dealing face to face with
patients) with the option of using a Trust approved and supplied
disposable mask ? Yes. These masks are available to all frontline staff
and patients in all clinical areas including our Dialysis unit.

Please also supply a copy of your written policy covering this

This is included within Trust Isolation Protocol CG175 (attached).
