Dispensations given

Samuel Monk made this Freedom of Information request to Independent Office for Police Conduct

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Independent Police Complaints Commission,

I understand that there is a process which allows police forces to apply for dispensations not to investigate complaints made against them. I can understand there is a genuine need for such a mechanism. Would you please appraise me of the following information?

1.Annual number of dispensations requests by each force in the following years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 (please provide an individual number for each force)

2. Annual number of dispensations requests by each section of the Metropolitan police force in the following years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 (I understand the Met police is divided into 32 london borough divisions)

3. Annual number of dispensations granted by IPCC for each force in the following years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011(please provide an individual number for each force)

4. Annual number of dispensations granted by the IPCC for each section of the Metropolitan police force in the following years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 (I understand the Met police is divided into 32 london borough divisions)

Yours faithfully,

Samuel Monk
