Dear Langford Jackson

Thank you for your request for information.

Please find information provided by the relevant service team(s) below.

1) The date(s) when Freedom Support's management team had discussions with Clive Dunham of Staffordshire County Council

A Staffordshire County Council Health and Safety Advisor contacted and spoke to members of staff at Freedom Support on the 29th and 30th April 2020. The Health and Safety Advisor delivered a supply of emergency PPE to Freedom Support on Friday 1 May 2020.

2) What the main advice/ areas of discussion were during this (these) discussions with regard to PPE

The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Service supported the Council's response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the end of April, following a change in government guidance (How to work safely in domiciliary care), the council's Health and Safety Advisors were asked to contact Home Care Providers to ask them if they were aware of the changes to guidance on the use of fluid repellent surgical masks and if they had sufficient stock of PPE to manage this change. If they did not have sufficient stock of PPE the Council provided an emergency supply to enable the continuing provision of service.

Health and Safety Advisors contacted home care providers and as part of this process including contacting and speaking to Freedom Support. The areas of discussion were around their awareness of the changes in the guidance and their immediate need for additional PPE as a result of the changes in PPE guidance.
