Dear British Army,

The Army Terms of Service Regulations 2007 (as amended) disallow discharge for any recruit during the first six weeks, irrespective of age at enlistment, but in practice COs may use their discretion to authorise discharges administratively within this period.

Can you please tell me whether it is now policy at the Army Foundation College (AFC) to allow any recruit to leave in the first six weeks if they express a wish to do so?

If the Commanding Officer at AFC has been issued with any instructions to vary the early discharge policy from letter of the Regulations, can you please let me see them?
