Thank you for your e-mail request for information dated 22 March 2012 10
20:32 requesting the following:

 

“I would like information on discipline within your organisation, I wish
to know the number of disciplines up to and including watch manger b. In
comparison to station manager to chief fire officer in number form if
possible and if this is of equal parity.”

 

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has now reviewed your request, and
we require further information in order to identify and locate the
requested information.  We will not be able to take this matter further
without extra information from you.

 

Please can you therefore provide the following additional information by

1.      Please could you confirm a time period of when you would like to
us to search back in our records to retrieve the requested information.

2.     Please clarify your meaning of ‘discipline’ and, what in your
opinion, that would include.

 

Until we receive clarification, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service
will consider this information request to be suspended. The 20 working
days to respond will only re-commence when we receive clarification.

 

If we do not hear from you within one month of the date of this e-mail we
will assume that you are no longer seeking access to this information and
we will take no further action.

The time frame of the last 4 years please;In regard to the question of discipline I would like to know if a verbal/written are the same thing. All cases of discipline no matter how small it may seem. I would also like to know if any senior officer has been disciplined for any re-ignitions at any fires in your authority, or if any investigations have taken place regarding this matter

Thank you for your request for information dated 22 March 2012 20:30,
which was received by the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service on 23 March
2012.

Your request is as follows:

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service response:

I can confirm that the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service has now
completed its search for the information which you requested, which is as
follows:.

 

There have been 98 formal discipline cases resulting in a written warning
or above in the last 4 years at Watch Manager B or below.

There has been one formal discipline case at Station Manager level in the
same time frame.

 

No senior officers have been investigated or formally disciplined for a
re-ignition at any fires in the Authority.

 

The Authority does not give employees verbal warnings, employees can be
given informal discussions which are part of the informal disciplinary
process and written warnings are the first stage of the formal
disciplinary process.

 

The supply of documents under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act
2000 does not give the applicant or whoever receives the information any
right to re-use it in such a way that might infringe the Copyright,
Designs and Patents Act 1988 (for example, by making multiple copies,
publishing or otherwise distributing the information to other individuals
