The Productive Series was introduced into St.Georges in 2008 and adopted
by all in-patient areas over the following two year. The programme was
supported by the Chief Nurse, Head of Estates and the Chief Executive.
Each area progressed through a series of modules which were chosen after
having completed a direct care time audit which Identified areas in which
the ward was being wasteful. Some areas within theatres and the community
adopted elements of the productive series. Formal management of the
productive ward stopped in 2013. The trust is currently reviewing its
approach to Productive Ward and is engaging with the staff to plan a
re-emergence of the programme.

 

-Tools or systems your trusts uses to monitor patient flow and discharge
-Measures in place in your trust to ensure patient discharges are planned
and they leave the hospital by 12pm where possible to aid patient flow.

‘In addition to the enclosed tool to track flow the trust has a live
patient clinical information system (Cerner Millennium) which is currently
being further developed to support patient flow and discharge. As this is
a large complex information system containing sensitive clinical
information it is not possible to share this.”
