I'd be grateful if you could please provide me with the following information under the freedom of information request legislation:
1. An estimate of the number of registered disabled people in your area (and how this has been obtained)?
2. The current number of accessible homes in your area built since 2010?
3. An estimate of the number of accessible homes required by 2020 in your area (and how this has been calculated)?
4. The total number of people on the waiting list for accessible homes as of 1st Jan 2017?
5. The total number of accessible homes available in your area as of 1st Jan 2017?
6. How (in detail) disabled people are currently involved in your process for gathering evidence on housing need?

Further to your FOI request ,  please see below for our response:

 

 

1) estimate of the number of registered disabled people in the area

 

The Strategic Housing Market Assessment looks at housing needs of
particular groups  available at

Use census (neighbourhood statistics) data and POPPI and PANSI data sets
as necessary

 

2) current number of accessible homes in the area built since 2010

 

Majority of affordable housing is built to lifetime homes standard.  Since
2010, 1342 affordable homes have been built in the borough including some
homes specifically  for disabled people, older people, people with
learning disabilities and mental health issues.

 

3) estimate of number of accessible homes required by 2020

4) total number of people on waiting list for accessible homes

 

In the region of 193 as at 1st Jan 2017

 

5) total number of accessible homes in the area

 

As per answer to question 2 .  within the councils own housing stock, 442
sheltered homes, 1087 bungalows (369 with lifelines).

 

The council undertakes disabled adaptions to its own stock as needed - 324
disabled adaptations completed in 2015/16

 

administers the disabled facilities grant for private homes – 57 DFGs
completed in 15/16

 

6) how are disabled people involved in gathering evidence on housing need

 

Through consultation for strategies/policies such as the Local Plan and
the Housing Strategy.
