I am writing to request an internal review of Croydon Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'direct or indirect payments payments re 518 Purley Way Croydon'.
Your resonse " Please be advised that we do not currently have or manage a property at 518 purley way Croydon CR0 4RE It is not on the housing system " totally fails to answer my request
We have been informed by some of the occupants of 518 Purley Way they are being housed there at the expense of Croydon Council directly or indirectly
The owner of 518 Purley Way is 518 Ltd The person who is the sole shareholder of that company is Mr Shujat ( Chico ) Khan who alo is the sole sharholder of K B World Ltd which promotes itself as providing housing to loocal authorities
All these companies & other associated companies are based at 151 Stafford Road Wallington SM6 9BN
Please answer the FOI request as to whether or not your Council directly or indirectly pays to house people at 518 Purley Way Croydon

Dear John Watton,

Further to your email dated 7 November 2024, in which you requested an
Internal Review of the Council’s response to your request for information
made under the Freedom of Information Act (FoIA), I have now concluded
this review and I am able to reply as follows.

In your request for Internal Review, you asked the Council to reconsider
your request as you believed that you had not been provided with the
information requested.

In your request for information dated 23 September 2024 you requested the
following information:

“Please supply us with specific information & records your Council may
hold in respect of its direct or indirect payments to accommodate people
at 518 Purley Way Croydon CR0 4RE in respect of 2023 & current year”

The Council responded to you on the 1 November 2024 and provided the
following response:

“Please be advised that we do not currently have or manage a property at
518 Purley Way Croydon CR0 4RE.

It is not on the housing system”

In your request for an Internal Review dated 7 November 2024 you stated
the following:

“I am writing to request an internal review of Croydon Borough Councils

On receiving your request for an Internal Review, I have considered the
issues you raised.

All Local Authorities are required to make available details of payments
made by the Council to contractors and service providers over £500.  These
[1]can be found on the Council’s website.  The Council therefore considers
any information in respect of payments made exempt under the exemption
provided for in Section 21 of FoIA (Information Accessible to Applicant by
other Means). 

Any information that may be held in respect of individual households, is
exempt under the exemption provided for in Section 40 (5B) (Personal
Information) and the Council is neither able to confirm nor deny what
information is held. As previously stated, the Council does not manage
these properties.

If you are not content with the outcome of the Internal Review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:
