Dear Home Office,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Home Office's handling of my FOI request 'Diary of Sajid Javid'.

There is no valid reason to withhold this information.

However the fact you've stated "You hold this information" as opposed to "A search has not yielded any results" would suggest the Secretary of State was having Christmas drinks during the period we requested but we require a definitive response.

Provision of requested information is not a 'security issue'. It does not reveal the location of the Secretary of State. It does not compromise the department in any way. We know this because equivalent information was sought from other departments and most of them have provided this information without issue, even the Prime Minister. From those responses it appears many Secretaries of State were having Christmas drinks on the date we queried. They knew it was better to provide the information because trying to hide it would attract unwanted attention since they know we are press.

This information is still required. Be advised that further attempts to block the release of this information will result in the matter being taken up with the Information Commissioner who will be provided with responses from the majority of departments choosing, quite rightly (and wisely), to provide the information requested rather than attract unwanted attention.

On a side note many present Government Ministers have claimed to be transparent in their affairs. You're letting them down here.

Dear FOI Requests,

As the internal review is conducted we felt the information below would be helpful. It is the response with the information requested from your other Government departments. All we require from your department is one of two responses. A) Not on file B) "Christmas drinks".

Prime Minister's Office (Having Christmas drinks/diary data provided)
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/p...

Department for Work and Pensions (Having Christmas drinks/diary data provided)
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Ministry of Justice (No mention of Christmas drinks/diary data provided)
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Department of Transport (No mention of Christmas drinks/diary data provided)
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Furthermore, a similar request made to the Department of Transport yielded this result:
"Following a search of our records I can confirm that the information you have requested is not held by the Department.
No Christmas drinks were scheduled in the Secretary of States diary between 18:30 and 23:30 on 19th December."
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/5...
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/1...

Department for Education (Having Christmas drinks/diary data provided)
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (No mention of Christmas drinks/diary data provided)
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Furthermore, a similar request made to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government yielded this result:
"We have reviewed the Secretary of State’s diary for the date in question and no entries related to your query were found"
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/1...

Then below, a similar type of response for the final three departments, which correctly answered our requests:

Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Christmas drinks not mentioned in diary)
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/1...

Department for Exiting the European Union (Christmas drinks not mentioned in diary)
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/1...

Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (Christmas drinks not mentioned in diary)
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/1...
