Dear Mr Elibank

Thank you for your freedom of information request of 27 October on the
Diamond Jubilee Unit - ref 157898

This read:

`Please provide me with an electronic copy of all documents and
correspondence (internal as well as external) pertaining to the
establishment, composition, terms of reference, operation etc. Of the
Diamond Jubilee Unit which operates within your department.'

I regret that in order to respond properly to your request we would first
need further clarification from you on the exact terms of your request.
This is because your request is very wide ranging and if taken literally
would require us to provide almost every document about the Diamond
Jubilee Unit.

Also, the Freedom of Information Act only requires public bodies who are
subject to the Act to provide documents they hold on record at the time of
the request; it does not require them to seek copies of documents stored
at other organisations. You may also wish to consider whether to submit a
request to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. I should
point out that whilst the Royal Household might potentially also hold
relevant documents, they are not subject to the Freedom of Information
Act.

If you wish, you can send a new request setting out what you are most
interested in, but in case it is helpful, I have attached what our
Department considers to be the key documents setting out the terms of
reference for the Unit. Please note that I have redacted a very small
amount of contact information under section 40 (personal information) of
the Act.

If you would like to discuss the terms of the request before responding,
then please do not hesitate to contact me. We aim to deal with your
response promptly once your clarification has been received, and will
treat it as a new request from the date we receive your clarification. In
the meantime we will close this case on our system.

Yours sincerely,

Daniel Halpern
