Freedom of Information, North Bristol NHS Trust

Dear John,

Thank you for your request for information of 02nd October 2018.. In compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, our response is below.

We are unable to distinguish from the data on the renal system between patients who die on the NBT site and those who specifically die in RDU, as they are recorded as the same location. Obviously the majority of patients who die at NBT will not die in RDU. During that time 341 haemodialysis patients died at NBT, of whom the majority will not have died on RDU.

In addition we have 26 recorded deaths since 01 January 2010 at a dialysis unit that was not Southmead RDU; i.e. Bath, Weston, Frome, Cossham, South Bristol , Bright, Yeovil or Taunton. It is also possible that the death may have occurred in the confines of the hospital for Bright, Weston Super mare, Cossham, Frome, Yeovil and Taunton but not actually in the dialysis unit and had been incorrectly recorded as dying on the dialysis unit.

Please also note that as per Dr Power's email, enquirer can also review data on the UK Renal Registry website as survival data is presented on it and is “open source”

Your request has been fully discharged, but I should be pleased to offer any further assistance that you may require.

We should advise that you have the right to complain about this response by reference to the complaints procedure of the North Bristol NHS Trust, in which case you should write to:
