DHSC funded service of opinions against practitioners

Aruna made this Freedom of Information request to Department of Health and Social Care Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

Dear Department of Health and Social Care,

The NHSR is an arms length body of the DHSC. It runs a behavioural service called the PPA service. If offers advice to managers. Is the DHSC (a) aware and if yes, (b) has approved a service that

1. proffers opinions to NHS managers based only on manager's version of events (including seeking apologies or suspensions)
2. The process does not mandate the manager to inform the practitioner of what is being discussed or document it.
3. It does not mandate the manager to own up if the previous concerns or claims are found to be incorrect or untrue or exaggerated
4. There is no audit of this service for its impact on practitioners

In view of Letby and post office case the queries raised to you are of high public interest.

Yours faithfully

Aruna
