Dear Ben,

Please find below the response to your Freedom of information request received on 28 February 2020:

1. The 'business case' produced to determine the viability of purchasing and developing the former-Millers Garage site into a long-stay car park. This should include but not be limited to, the calculations made to determine the economic viability of the project

The purchase of the land known as Millers Garage, East Street, Crewkerne was purchased under an urgent Executive Decision and was reported to the District Executive Committee of South Somerset District Council on the January 2015. The documents relating to this are attached and I have obtained them from the Public Website section of our site. The decision in summary was to approve officers to attend the auction on 28 November 2014 and to bid on the site.

2. Any correspondence between SSDC and District Councillors representing Crewkerne ward in relation to this project (including prior to purchase of the land)

All of the staff dealing with this matter at that time have now left and I haven't been able to find any correspondence between SSDC and District Councillors representing Crewkerne ward in relation to the purchase of the land. Any more in depth searching would require accessing archive e-mails which would exceed the maximum time limit.

Apologies for the delay.

Kind regards
FOI Team
