foi, Intellectual Property Office

Dear Mr Chaffin,

I am replying to your information request of 2 July 2018.  Much of the
information is exempt from disclosure under section 21 of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 because it is already available to you by other
means.  You can find information about our G-Cloud expenditure on the
Government website at
[1]https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/sy...
.

If you download the Excel file and sort the customer column you can view
the purchasing history for the Intellectual Property Office (IPO).   The
further details you have asked for, such as contract lengths and the
nature of projects worked on are withheld under section 31 (1) (a) of the
Act, which relates to the prevention or detection of crime.  The IPO
considers that the disclosure of such additional information would be
likely to prejudice the prevention or detection of crime as it would carry
a risk of compromising of IT security.

Section 31 is a qualified exemption, which means that we are obliged to
consider public interest arguments surrounding the disclosure or otherwise
of the information in question.  In this instance we do not consider that
there are any overriding public interest arguments that favour disclosure,
so the exemption is maintained with respect to more detailed unpublished
information.

I appreciate that our refusal of some of the information you have
requested will be disappointing.   If you are dissatisfied with the
handling of your request you have the right to ask for an internal
review.  Internal review requests should be submitted within two months of
the date of receipt of the response to your original request and you may
ask for a review by emailing [2][Intellectual Property Office request email] .  If you are not content
with the outcome of the internal review, you have the right to apply
directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. The Information
Commissioner can be contacted at:

Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow,
Cheshire SK9 5AF.

Yours sincerely,

Alison Smith.
