Dear Ms Davis

Freedom of Information request - Ref 2035

I am writing further to your request for information about empty
commercial properties with a rateable value of £18,000 to £20,000, which
we received on 29 April 2010. We have answered your questions below.

(a) addresses and rateable values of empty Commercial properties with a
current rateable value between £18,000 and £20,000 that are within
Solihull Borough Council area

Please see the attached spreadsheet. This shows the property address,
current rateable value and the liable company details.

We have not included properties where the liable party is a named person.
(However these were very small in number, being less than 10.) In not
supplying them we are relying upon exemption section 40(2) of the Freedom
of Information Act. This exemption applies where disclosure would breach
any of the principles of the Data Protection Act. We believe that
disclosing this information would breach the DPA, particularly the first
principle of the DPA, fairness.

(b) the names and addresses of the owners of those properties referred to
in (a)

Please see the attached spreadsheet for the names and addresses of the
companies that own the properties. We have not supplied the names of
owners where the liable party was a named person for the reason explained
in the previous answer.

I hope that the information that we have provided is to your
satisfaction. You are free to use any information supplied for your own
use, including for non-commercial research purposes. The information may
also be used for the purposes of news reporting. However, any other type
of re-use, for example, by publishing the information or issuing copies to
the public will require the permission of the copyright owner. For
information on how to apply for permission where the copyright is owned by
the Council please refer to the Council's website
[1]http://www.solihull.gov.uk/democracy/pub.... For
information where the copyright is owned by another person or
organisation, you must apply to the copyright owner to obtain their
permission.

If you are unhappy with the service that you have received in relation to
your request and wish to make a complaint or request a review of our
decision you should write to Andrew Shipway, Corporate Information
Governance Manager, PO Box 18, Council House, Solihull, West Midlands B91
9QS or email [2][Solihull Borough Council request email] by 27 June 2010. I enclose a copy
of the Complaints and Appeals procedure that gives further details.

If you are not content with the outcome of your review or complaint, you
may apply directly to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for a
decision. Generally the ICO cannot make a decision until you have
exhausted the complaints procedure provided by the Council. The
Information Commissioner can be contacted at Wycliffe House, Water Lane,
Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF, telephone: 01625 545 700, website:
[3]http://www.informationcommissioner.gov.uk.

Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact
me.

Yours sincerely
