Dear Ms Davis

Freedom of Information request - Ref 1404

I am writing further to your request for information about empty
commercial properties, which we received on 08 May 2009.

You asked for the following details:

(a) addresses and rateable values of empty Commercial properties that are
within Solihull Borough Council area; and

(b) the names of the owners of those properties referred to in (a).

Please see the attached spreadsheet for details of the names of companies
which own commercial property that is empty and the addresses. Please
note that the list does not include any names of private individuals/sole
traders who may own empty commercial property. In not supplying any
details of private individuals/sole traders the exemption applied is
Section 40 (2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. This exemption
applies because the information is personal data.

We have not supplied the rateable values. In not disclosing this
information the Council is relying upon exemption - section 21 of the
Freedom of Information request. This applies to information that is
reasonably accessible by other means.

Rateable values are publicly available on the Valuation Office Agency
website [1]http://www.voa.gov.uk/.

I hope that the information that we have been able to provide is to your
satisfaction. You are free to use any information supplied for your own
use, including for non-commercial research purposes. The information may
also be used for the purposes of news reporting. However, any other type
of re-use, for example, by publishing the information or issuing copies to
the public will require the permission of the copyright owner. For
information on how to apply for permission where the copyright is owned by
the Council please refer to the Council's website
[2]http://www.solihull.gov.uk/democracy/pub.... For
information where the copyright is owned by another person or
organisation, you must apply to the copyright owner to obtain their
permission.

your request and wish to make a complaint or request a review of our
decision you should write to Andrew Shipway, Corporate Information
Governance Manager, PO Box 18, Council House, Solihull, West Midlands B91
9QS or email [3][Solihull Borough Council request email] by 6 July 2009. I enclose a copy
of the Complaints and Appeals procedure that gives further details.

If you are not content with the outcome of your review or complaint, you
may apply directly to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for a
decision. Generally the ICO cannot make a decision until you have
exhausted the complaints procedure provided by the Council. The
