Liberty and Justice Protection Alliance

Dear Land Registry,

We request to know under the freedom of information act
whether any HM Land Registry staff (including agents, and contractors) whilst working for HM Land Registry are also engaged as lawyers in private practice outside of HM Land Registry as either a Solicitor, paralegal, CILEx, Barrister or member of the Judiciary.

We are requesting a numbered list of staff IDs (names can be redacted if required) and the nature of any other capacity/position/occupation they hold which could amount to a potential conflict of interest.

Yours faithfully,

Liberty and Justice Protection Alliance

Sondh, Gurmale, Land Registry

Dear Sir/Madam,

I refer to my email dated 6 November 2018 acknowledging receipt of your Freedom of Information Act request concerning the above subject. You requested the following information:-

"We request to know under the freedom of information act whether any HM Land Registry staff (including agents, and contractors) whilst working for HM Land Registry are also engaged as lawyers in private practice outside of HM Land Registry as either a Solicitor, paralegal, CILEx, Barrister or member of the Judiciary.

We are requesting a numbered list of staff IDs (names can be redacted if required) and the nature of any other capacity/position/occupation they hold which could amount to a potential conflict of interest".

I am sorry to come back bit late for some clarification on your request. The department requires further information in order to identify and locate the information that you have asked for. I will not be able to take this matter further without extra information from you. In particular, it would be useful to check with you first that our assumption about your request is correct i.e. that the second paragraph is in the context of the first (i.e. it is restricted to HMLR staff who are engaged as lawyers outside of HMLR) rather than a wider request about HMLR staff who may have a conflict of interest.

Once you have clarified your request, I will be able to begin to process your request. If I do not receive clarification within three months your request will be considered to have lapsed. (Under section 1(3) of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), a public authority need not comply with a request unless any further information reasonably required to locate the information is supplied).

If you wish to discuss any of the above, please contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Senior Corporate Information Officer
