Detailed Statistics of resolved Inconclusive reactors developing tb from Officially TB Free herds.

Animal and Plant Health Agency did not have the information requested.

Dear Animal and Plant Health Agency,
APHA have recently introduced a policy whereby Inconclusive reactors that pass the repeat TB test after being declared inconclusive become resolved inconclusive reactors (RIR) and are then confined to their holding for life unless the keeper undertakes a private gamma interferon test.
This policy is based on research from Ireland which showed that RIRs from officially TB free herds had a higher likelihood of subsequently developing TB than non RIRs. The purpose of this FOI request is to understand the data APHA has on whether the likelihood of an RIR subsequently developing TB varies by the length of time since the herd last had a breakdown or lost that status. The request would be satisfied by a table which showed likelihood of an RIR subsequently developing bTB against the length of time the herd had been officially TB free at the time of the animal becoming an RIR.

Yours faithfully,

Martin Wright
