Detailed Data for Buses & Coach Fatal & Serious Injury Incidents shown for 2015 in Table RAS20001 from Reported road casualties Great Britain: 2015

The request was refused by Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.

Dear Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency,

In the DfT publication "Reported Road Casualties Great Britain: 2015 Annual Report" Table RAS20001 "Vehicles involved in reported accidents and involvement rates by vehicle type and severity of accident, Great Britain, 2005 - 2015" shows that 64 people were killed and 638 people were Seriously Injured in incidents involving Buses or Coaches in 2015.

For each of these 702 KSI Collision Incidents which took place in the calendar year 2015, I requested the DfT to provide me with:

1) the dates of the Bus KSI Collision Incidents;
2) the incident location (or reporting local authority);
3) the name of the Bus or Coach Operator involved.

In its response (reference number P0014071, https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/d...), the DfT informed me that it did not have any of this information.

Would you be able to provide me with this specific information?

Yours faithfully,

Tom Kearney

Dear Mr Kearney

Information requested under the Freedom of Information Act (FoIA)

Further to our recent email, I can confirm that we have handled your
request for information about a report within the terms of the FoIA.

Your request and our response is as follows:

In the DfT publication "Reported Road Casualties Great Britain: 2015
Annual Report" Table RAS20001 "Vehicles involved in reported accidents and
involvement rates by vehicle type and severity of accident, Great Britain,
2005 - 2015" shows that 64 people were killed and 638 people were
Seriously Injured in incidents involving Buses or Coaches in 2015.

For each of these 702 KSI Collision Incidents which took place in the
calendar year 2015, I requested the DfT to provide me with:

1)  the dates of the Bus KSI Collision Incidents;
2) the incident location (or reporting local authority);
3) the name of the Bus or Coach Operator involved.

In its response (reference number P0014071,
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/d...),
the DfT informed me that it did not have any of this information.

Would you be able to provide me with this specific information?

We hold some information relating to Public Service Vehicle (PSV).
However, this is only in relation to where we have been asked to either
inspect or investigate accidents/incidents. I am sorry but we shall not be
providing this data for this request as we would have to manually look
through 461 accident reports to see what information we hold in relation
to identifying the coach or bus involved. Each record would take
approximately 20 to 30 minutes to locate, retrieve and extract the case
file and search to identify the information requested[2]^^[1]. We have
estimated that this review would take approximately 154 hours which
considerably exceeds the 24 working hour limit[3]^^[2].

If you have any queries about the information released to you, please
contact the DVSA press office at [4][email address].

If you are unhappy with the way we have handled your request, you should
ask for an internal review by contacting Vasim Choudhary, Public Liaison
Manager by email at [5][email address] or at the above
address.

Yours sincerely
