Destruction of information relvant to the child sexual abuse inquiry

Ann McNeil made this Freedom of Information request to Home Office

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Home Office,

The lack of action in the Sexual Abuse Inquiry for children, since its announcement on July 7th and the lack of a statement from Fiona Woolf CBE, the chair of the Sexual Abuse Inquiry for Children since her appointment on September 5th, as to her relationship to Baron Brittan of Spennithorne, leads to speculation that files may be being shredded in the meantime, as the Mail states http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-....

Have any documents or files or information been destroyed since July 1 that may be of relevance to the inquiry? If so what were they?
Is it legal to destroy files or documents or information that may be relevant to the inquiry?
Is a register kept of any files or documents or information that are to be destroyed? If so are any files relevant to the inquiry on the list of information to be destroyed.
Can the Home Office reassure the public that there will be no destruction of documents or files of potential relevance to the inquiry, however classified or not?
Is the Inquiry counted as having been started? If not when will it start? When is a statement to be made regarding Barron Brittans relationship with Fiona Woolf CBE?
When is a statement forthcoming on the rest of the members of the panel?
If it is within the financial limit for requests, please send a list of information to be destroyed in from now to the end of October?

Yours faithfully,

Ann McNeil
