Dermatology patient backlog - NHS:

We're waiting for Stewart Slevin to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust,

- Kindly verify the presence of a backlog in the specialty of Dermatology within the hospital, including the number of cases and patients affected?

- What strategies are being implemented to address and clear this backlog?

- Can it be confirmed whether more cost-effective frameworks and approved supplier agencies have presented CVs and solutions for doctors that were subsequently rejected?

We have been made aware that the hospital may have one or several insourcing companies charging between £8000-£14000 per day to cover work that could be easily managed at a 10th of this price with Locums or substantive doctors - please expand with an explanation?

- How many managers, secretaries, and support staff are currently allocated to the Dermatology specialty, and what is the total expenditure on salaries and wages for these personnel?

- Has the hospital ever refused to book a doctor due to concerns over payment of VAT by the agency instead of the hospital? When would the necessity of securing a doctor outweigh the desire to save on VAT?

- Is there any history of the hospital or medical staffing obstructing or deleting emails from agencies offering CVs in high-demand specialties? Have there been any threats made in this regard? We have been given evidence of the same including managers and leads shirking responsibility in this regard - please expand on this

- What amount has the hospital/trust disbursed in fines for Dermatology backlogs to CCGs, Health Boards, or ICBs between 2023 and 2024?

- During the same period, how much has the hospital/trust paid out in negligence lawsuits or settlements?

- How can an agency or insourcing company effectively reach out to relevant managers to propose solutions for addressing backlogs within your organization?

Thank you,

Yours faithfully,

Stewart

Yours faithfully,

Stewart

Good Afternoon,

The Trust is in the process of collating a response to your Freedom of
Information request. However, we need some clarifications:

During the same period, how much has the hospital/trust paid out in
negligence lawsuits or settlements?

Could you please clarify if you require the data for all claims or just
those specific to dermatology?

Your request will be placed on hold until we hear from you. However please
note, if we do not receive a response within the next 7 days of this
email, we will presume you no longer require this information, and your
request will be invalid – resulting in initiating a new request.

Therefore, please advise at your earliest convenience.

Kind Regards

Dear FOIRequest,

Firstly, please note that I have updated my full name to be reflected on here. Secondly, the information requested is only pertaining to dermatology:

During the same period, how much has the hospital/trust paid out in
negligence lawsuits or settlements?

Could you please clarify if you require the data for all claims or just
those specific to dermatology?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Yours sincerely,

Stewart Slevin
