Depth of main sewage pipe at Long Eaton
Dear Severn Trent Plc,
I wish to see a better solution than the 17 metre high HS2 viaduct through Long Eaton. One alternative would be cut & cover.
I assume that the main sewer from Long Eaton to Toton sewerage works passes immediately south & parallel to, the Nottingham road railway bridge, alongside the bridge, the path of the preceding level crossing.
If this assumption is correct please would you advise me of the clearance between the top of the sewer and the tarmac above it?
Yours faithfully,
Stuart Allan

Good afternoon Mr Allan
Thank you for your email.
In order to answer your query, we need more information about the exact
location you’re asking about. If you can provide details of the closest
address and postcode, a grid reference or a plan showing the location,
we’ll be able to look into this further.
The clearance between the top of the sewer and the highway can be
ascertained from the sewer records; however any precise highway point
would have to be related to the nearest manhole cover level. I’ve attached
the application form for you to use if you wish to request a copy of the
relevant sewer map.
Severn Trent Water can only ensure that our assets are protected or moved
where the HS2 route is involved. The most suitable engineering solution
regarding the protection of the sewers will be determined by our Asset
Creation team and the HS2 Project team.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Susan Thomas
