Deportation of human trafficking victims

The request was successful.

Dear Home Office,

Please provide the number of voluntary and forced removals (deportation) of potential victims of trafficking since 2016. Please present the figures for individuals with positive conclusive and reasonable grounds decisions as two separate figures.

Dear IE PQs, FOIs and Correspondence,

Thank you for your request for clarification. My use of the term “confirmed victims of trafficking” refers to those who have received positive conclusive grounds decisions via the NRM. However, as this has already been answered in a previous request, please simply provide the second figure alone (for “potential victims of trafficking” - those who have received positive reasonable grounds decisions).

Yours sincerely,

M Esslemont

Dear IE PQs, FOIs and Correspondence,

I wish to clarify the data presented, and add my own clarification in case this is lacking in my initial request.

For reference, I am asking for the number of voluntary and forced removals of individuals who have at any time been considered a potential victim of trafficking (I.e. reached the reasonable grounds stage within the NRM). Does this figure refer to individuals who were engaging with the NRM at the time of removal, or does it also refer to any individual who at some stage has received a positive reasonable grounds decision?

Kind regards
Maya Esslemont

Dear IE PQs, FOIs and Correspondence,

Thank you for treating my clarification as a new request (case ref 54295), and for providing this data. Please clarify how many of each category of voluntary and enforced returns during this time period (2016,2017,2018) refer to cases that haven’t received a Reasonable Grounds stage decision.

Yours sincerely,

Dear IE PQs, FOIs and Correspondence,

Thank you for providing responses to requests for the number of potential and recognised trafficking victims who are subject to voluntary and enforced removal, including most recently in case ref 55782.

Please confirm, as a separate request, whether case ref 55782 includes the number of modern slavery, and potential modern slavery victims, or whether this was limited only to NRM decisions related to 'trafficking'. If the latter is true, please can you provide the total number of enforced and voluntary removals, since 2016, of:

- Potential Slavery victims removed with positive Reasonable Grounds as their last decision
- Slavery victims removed with positive Conclusive Grounds as their last decision

Yours sincerely,
M Esslemont
