Dear Ministry of Defence,

Please could you provide me with information about measurements the MOD have made to determine the character of dust at the point of impact of DU munitions. In particular measurements relating size distribution of the dust and how this varies with time, including details of the sampling and analysis methodology.

Could you also provide me with information about how the MOD modeled DU dust dispersion into the environment after the impact of DU munitions against hard targets

1: Particle size and concentration at points down wind of the point of impact against hard and how this varies by time.

2: The amounts and nature of DU settling out on the ground at various distances from the target.

3: The meteorological parameters used in the modelling

4: Information about the type of modelling used

Yours faithfully,

Fred WP Dawson

Sec Pol Ops-DU BM2 (Skerritt, Simon C2),
