Dear James

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated
13/01/19 in which you requested information regarding dentistry
applications.

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your questions below and set out
our corresponding responses.

1) Please could you provide me an excel sheet containing all of the
following information for the past 2 DBS Dentistry admission cycles:
2016/2017 and 2017/2018. If you do not have information for the years
requested, I kindly ask for you to provide the statistics for the next
most recent 2 years of admissions.

* UKCAT score

* A-level predicted grades

* Graduate/Non-Graduate

* Interviewed / Not interviewed

* Made an offer / Not made an offer

Please see attached documents. Please note that students who applied as
graduates are marked with a black dot.

Please note that while the University holds some information about
predicted grades, the information is not routinely collated and would
involve investigating individual records to retrieve predicted grades from
each application form.  Therefore the time involved in collating and
providing the information you have requested would exceed 18 hours.
Accordingly section 12(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 will
apply. If you have not already done so, you may consider contacting UCAS,
as it may be that they will be able to supply some of the information
which you have requested.

2) Are graduates applying for the program given equal consideration to
those applying without any higher education of such?

3) To what extent will the A-Level grades of post-graduates applying be
considered?

Graduates are given equal consideration as we score the degree predicted
or obtained (2:1 or higher) and lower A Level and GCSE grades are required
(ABB as opposed to AAA for school leavers, GCSEs grade A/B with B in
English language as opposed to As in all subjects including English/Welsh
First Language).

I trust this information satisfies your enquiry.  The University has a
Freedom of Information Complaints Procedure should you feel dissatisfied
with this response or the way in which your request was handled.
Complaints must be made in writing and must set out why you believe the
University has not met its obligations under the Freedom of Information
Act.  You may email your complaint to [1][email address] where
it will be forwarded to the Director of Strategic Planning and Governance
who will be responsible for overseeing the review.

If you remain dissatisfied following the outcome of your complaint, you
have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for
consideration.  The Information Commissioner can be contacted at the
following address: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House,
Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in
Cardiff University. If you require further assistance please feel free to
contact me.

Yours sincerely
