Dear University of Manchester,

Could you please provide me with the average, lowest and highest UCAT score required to be shortlisted for the interview stage. Could you also provide me with the lowest combination of GCSE grades and UCAT score that was invited to interview for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 admissions cycle.

Yours faithfully,
J Singh.

Dear J Singh,

Thank you for your request for information received by The University of
Manchester on 05 October 2021 which was as follows:

Dent Stats - Could you please provide me with the average, lowest and
highest UCAT score required to be shortlisted for the interview stage.
Could you also provide me with the lowest combination of GCSE grades and
UCAT score that was invited to interview for the 2019-20 and 2020-21
admissions cycle.

The University has now considered your request and unfortunately the
information you are seeking cannot be provided at this time. This is
because the information with regard to GCSEs is not transcribed from the
application forms. Therefore to collate the data to respond to your
request, we would need to manually assess all applications across the time
period requested. Unfortunately due to the high volume of applications
this task would far exceed the 18 hour ‘Appropriate Limit’ (as defined in
the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and
Fees) Regulations 2004). As a result, Section 12 of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 applies and regrettably this task cannot be
undertaken at this stage. This email serves to act as a refusal notice for
this request, as per Section 17 (5) of the Act.

I can however advise that data in relation to applications, interviews and
offers is (or will be) available on our website at
[1]https://www.bmh.manchester.ac.uk/study/d....

We would advise that applicants who were successful may not have been
shortlisted on the basis of their UCAT due to the holistic assessment
therefore any provision of UCAT data would not be an accurate indication
of how applicants would need to score in the UCAT to be considered for
interview.

However if you have any further questions on the application/selection
process, these would be better addressed to the relevant team via
[2][email address].

I hope this information is of use however if you feel that The University
of Manchester has refused access to information to which you are entitled,
or has not dealt with your request appropriately under the FOIA, you have
a right of appeal.

An appeal in the first instance should be directed to the Information
Governance Office at [3][email address]. You should include:

·         details of your initial request

·         any other relevant information

You must make this appeal within 40 working days from receipt of your
response. We will not accept appeals received after this date, as per the
Freedom of Information Code of Practice, Section 5.3.

The University will deal with your appeal within a reasonable time, and
will inform you of the projected time scale on receipt of your complaint.
You are also welcome to contact the Information Governance Office with
informal questions about the handling of your request.

After The University’s internal appeals procedure has been exhausted, you
have a further right of appeal to the Information Commissioner’s
Office. Details of this procedure can be found at [4]www.ico.org.uk.

Kind regards

Sharon
