Deer - Section 7 Control Agreements

A H Russell made this Freedom of Information request to Scottish Natural Heritage

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Scottish Natural Heritage,

Your website includes data on SNH annual deer counts from 2006/07 to 2011/12 ( - table 1). The website states that "Counts are prioritised to those areas where there are issues over the delivery of public objectives such as nature conservation...".

1 Please would you send me the 2012/13 and 2013/14 data for SNH's annual deer counts.

2 Where SNH has carried out a count from 2006/07 onwards because it had concerns related to nature conservation, please specify:
2.1 where each count was carried out (area/property/type of designation);
2.2 in which year it was carried out; and
2.3 whether there was, or is, a Section 7 agreement in place for that area/property/designated site.

3 Regarding Section 7 agreements that have been put in place since 2001, please provide the following details for each agreement:
- year of commencement
- reason for agreement
- area/name of property/properties
- year it finished or, if the agreement is still in place, a summary of its current status and
- whether the designated site subsequently lost its designation through failure to control deer numbers.

Do let me know if you require any clarification regarding this FOI request.

Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

Yours faithfully,

A H Russell
