Declared Corporation Tax (in the UK)
Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,
Can the BBC confirm that Corporation Tax will be paid?
TV license collection (of £3.8 Billion) excluded.
Note: Corporation tax is a tax on profits of 25% - as of a recent budget in March 2021.
Figures you hold in public accounts show that up to 25% of additional earnings are for BBC TV programming sold under license to 'other' broadcaster s(including BBC Limited) and several 'freeview' TV channels (also owned collectively by BBC Limited) , BBC branding royalties and 'other' merchandising agreements (such magazines and periodicals), and lease/rental on BBC leasehold property (such as White City) on BBC holdings which by law, are all subject to corporation tax.

Note: FOI archivists: Some companies are able to 'offshore' profits. Some corporations are able to create Limited companies that mitigate Corporate tax liability. Some UK companies use off-shore banking for international payments - so are not taxed at UK rates. The UK has one of the lowest corporation taxes in the world. So its a valid question to ask.

The BBC are obliged to respond to such corporate responsibility.
A reply would be helpful.
Yours faithfully,
Philp Searle

Dear FOI Enquiries,
Your have not replied to my request in any detail above a general compliance document.
A refusal to release information that is available on public records and is obscured (by a public service) is one of the main reasons that this - Freedom of Information - public policy exists - to clarify an inform.
I am seeking a clarification that the BBC does indeed pay Corporation Tax, and has paid tax over the past five years. The published information for this should be held in the BBC report and accounts each year.
By not replying, indicates you would prefer that this amount is kept secret. I disagree, it is in the wider public interest(and intends) to pay corporation tax on profits. The BBC is profitable, yes?
Yours sincerely,
Philp Searle
