Dead End Road signs

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Somerset Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Mrs Lindsey Brooke

Dear Somerset County Council,

In the village of Barrington there are two stretches of highway which lead to the same destination, a private road which terminates at the National Trust property of Barrington Court. One of these highways displays a dead end sign to denote the fact that it terminates where it joins a private road ,the private road therefore constituting the dead end referred to, but in reality it does not terminate at all having give way signs and give way lines at it's junction with the private road and traffic can and does use it to get to Barrington Court. The other highway has no such dead end sign even though the circumstances are exactly the same, it leads to the same private road and therefore to the same dead end.
I would like to know the reason for this anomoly please and at whose instigation the one dead end sign was installed.
Yours faithfully,
LM Brooke
