De NOx technology in crematoriums

Beverly Holder made this Freedom of Information request to Aberdeen City Council as part of a batch sent to 180 authorities

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear local authority,
Please can you confirm if the crematorium(s) this local authority has responsibility for have de NOx technology installed to reduce emissions?
I would like this information provided in an Excel spreadsheet listing the name of the crematoriums and yes or no in a separate column for whether de NOx technology is installed, and a further column detailing briefly if there are any plans to install this technology in the near future.
If the time available to complete this request permits can you also please include a column listing whether mercury abatement technology is installed also.

Yours faithfully,

Beverly Holder

Dear Beverly,

Thank you for your information request of 29 November 2019.  Aberdeen City
Council (ACC) has completed the necessary search for the information
requested. Our response is now detailed below.

Please can you confirm if the crematorium(s) this local authority has
responsibility for have de NOx technology installed to reduce emissions?

I would like this information provided in an Excel spreadsheet listing the
name of the crematoriums and yes or no in a separate column for whether de
NOx technology is installed, and a further column detailing briefly if
there are any plans to install this technology in the near future.

Aberdeen Crematorium does not have de NOx technology installed, however,
it can be retro fitted to our cremator streams if any changes to
environmental legislation require it to be done. Please note that there
are no plans to install this technology.

If the time available to complete this request permits can you also please
include a column listing whether mercury abatement technology is installed
also.

Mercury abatement plant is installed at Aberdeen Crematorium.
