Dear Mr Maskell

Freedom of Information Act 2000 – Information Request

Thank you for your request for information dated 30 April 2014 and
received on 02 May 2014. The request has now been considered. I apologise
for the delay in responding

You asked:

Please would it be possible, under the Freedom of Information Act, to have
the following information:

1.         Who is your lead officer for DBS checking?

2.         How many DBS checks do you carry out each year, broken down by
type eg. Standard, Basic or Enhanced?

3.         Are you a registered body at the DBS that umbrellas other
organisations?

4.         Are you currently doing your DBS checks online and if so, what
system do you use?

5.         Have you a contract currently with a DBS eBulk provider and if
so when does the contract come to an end?

Our HR, Legal and Licensing section has advised that we are no longer a
registered body as we did not carry out enough DBS submissions in a 12
month period. Therefore we do not have a lead officer. We only carry out a
few enhanced checks a year for hackney carriage and private hire drivers.
There are 49 staff who require DBS checks. We are not a registered body
which umbrellas other organisations and we do not have a contract with a
DBS eBulk provider. We are currently considering provider to use and the
submission format.

I hope this satisfies your enquiry, however if you are dissatisfied with
the information provided please contact the Information and Records
Officer within two months of receipt of this letter at Allerdale Borough
Council, Allerdale House, Workington CA14 3YJ, phone (01900) 702701, email
[1][Allerdale District Council request email]. We will then make an internal review of the
decision.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner at: Information
Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9
5AF, Telephone: 0303 123 1113; [2]www.ico.gov.uk. Generally the ICO cannot
make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints procedure
provided by Allerdale Borough Council.
