Amanda Shoesmith, Bradford City Council

Dear Mr Griffiths

This is in response to your Freedom of Information request below.

1)         How you request your DBS Checks currently? Paper or Online?

DBS checks are requested by paper request for Council staff and online for
school-based staff

2)         Do you use a third party or request them direct with the DBS?

Checks are requested directly from the DBS for Council staff, and
school-based staff checks are done on-line in collaboration with another
local authority

3)         If you use a third party, which company is it? When did you
start using them? How much do you pay per Enhanced Disclosure? Is the
provider decided by a tender process, if not who is the individual within
the council that makes the decision?

The Council does not use a third party company, we work in collaboration
with another local authority utilising their system provider

4)         How many DBS checks did you request between 1st Jan 14 – 31st
Dec 14? Approx 8,600 in total for Council and school-based staff. This
does not include fostering and adoption checks

5)         Do you provide an umbrella body service to organisations? We
are registered with the DBS and do have the ability to act as an umbrella
body

6)         If so, please can you list the names of the organisations.
Please include a primary contact name and telephone. Details of the
service we offer as an umbrella body is in the public domain on BSO
