Dear Dumfries and Galloway College,
Please can you advise how your establishment process DBS applications where applicable - is this paper or do you use a particular 3rd party provider and if so can you advise how many applications per year do you process?
Yours faithfully,
Victor Howe
I am currently out of the office until Monday 10 July 2023 and I will
respond to you as soon as I can on my return.
Many thanks

Thank you for your FOISA request received on the 28/06/2023 – reference

In cases where we are not sure what information you are seeking, or the
format in which it is to be provided, the Freedom of Information
(Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA) and guidance from the Scottish Information
Commissioner directs us to contact you to seek clarification about your
request.
I am writing to you to ask you for clarification about your request:
You reference DBS checks in your request. This is short for Disclosure
and Barring Service. This service only applies to England and Wales. In
Scotland, the service would be provided by a different organisation,
Disclosure Scotland. As Dumfries and Galloway college is in Scotland,
please clarify if you wish to continue the FOISA request relating to
Disclosure Scotland requests or if you request only relates to the
specific Disclosure and Barring Service – in which case your FOISA request
will be closed.
Please note that under FOISA, requests for clarification ‘stop the clock’
on the twenty working days allowed for an authority to respond, and the
twenty working days starts from the date that clarification is received
(as if the request was received on that day).
For this reason, we ask that you, please, provide the requested
clarification at your earliest convenience. If we do not hear back from
you with your clarification within twenty working days of this request, we
may only respond to the parts of your request that do not require
clarification. If we have sought clarification relating to all of your
request and you do not reply, then we will be unable to respond to your
request and will close it twenty working days after sending this
request.
