Dear Mr Strong,
Thank you for your request for information received on 17 April 2014. You requested:
“Please can you provide the following information for all Day Nurseries and First schools including all Pupil Referral Units within the UK. I would like a list of all the names of Seniors Contacts/Heads, email address of contact, address, telephone number, plus the school's URN number. Please can the information be provided in a spreadsheet.”
I have dealt with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and a copy of the information as held by the Department as at 5th May 2015 is attached.
I have prepared for you two csv files.
The first csv file, titled “EduBase Standard Extract – 05-05-2015”, contains a standard extract of all Educational establishments (including, LA Maintained, Independent, Academies, CTCs, Free Schools, Studio Schools Further Education and Higher Education) in England with addresses, Head Teacher details, school email addresses and telephone number where available.
At present the Department does not hold individual Head Teacher or school staff email information, and for this reason we have supplied you with the school email address where possible.
The extract can be sorted to your own requirements by Phase of Education (primary, secondary etc.) or Type of Establishment (academy, free school, community school, etc.). Further information on these and other terms used within this extract can be found in the EduBase glossary: http://www.education.gov.uk/edubase/glos...
The second csv file, titled “Early Years 2014”, contains information about early years providers. The Department for Education only collects information from Early Years providers who are receiving funding to deliver funded early education. There will be more early years providers not receiving funding from the Department for Education who will therefore not be included in the attached workbook.
Data on this sheet are taken from the Early Years Census which took place in January 2014. This census does not collect full address information for the provider so it has only been possible to provide the Postcode and email address. Likewise we do not specifically collect Senior Contact/Heads; we simply collect a contact and their position which may or may not be the same as Senior Contact/Head.
Finally, note that with contact information such as address, email, and contact details, these data items are free text fields and may not always be complete or accurate.
In addition to the data held by the Department for Education, Ofsted has a database of registered childcare providers in England. This will include some of the funded providers I have supplied in the Excel document, but they will also have details of non-funded providers.
For details of how to contact Ofsted, please see: http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/contact-us
The Department for Education is responsible for education and children’s services in England. The department does not hold information for educational establishments in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This information may be available using the following links:
Northern Ireland http://www.deni.gov.uk/
As part of the data extract we have included the school Unique Reference Number (URN) so that if you require further information on any particular school record please go to www.education.gov.uk/edubase<http://www.education.gov.uk/edubase> where you will be able to view more information.
If you have any further issues or queries please do not hesitate to contact the EduBase helpdesk using the feedback form: http://www.education.gov.uk/edubase/feed...
