Can someone please explain to me why a University secretary earns almost as much as the Prime Minister?
Is the job really so demanding?
Or is it the case that university remuneration committee members button up the back and believe any old tosh they are told?

That would be down to meeting targets set out in the "Building on Excellence" strategic plan. The document itself seems to have disappeared but if I recall right, we were to be a UK top 10 and world top 50 research-led institution with significantly improved widening participation stats and much better retention.

Unbelievable! This clown is not as daft as he looks; he has managed to get regular salary increases despite failing miserably in whatever he does.
