Dear HS2Enquiries,

Thank you for your belated reply.

Please could you further review this matter.

The date on which the DfT advised HS2 Ltd of their intention to cancel the electrification of the Midland Mainline is not an insignificant piece of correspondence.

You confirm that you have completed only the most basic of searches. You have made next to no effort to provide the information.

Your search engine will be capable of further interrogating your system and it will take seconds or minutes, and not hours, to extend your search by further refining your search terms.

You will be aware of the departments within the DfT and HS2 Ltd that would issue and receive such correspondence. You know that notification would have been made by a senior member of staff at the Department for Transport, perhaps the Secretary of State. The correspondence would have been issued to a senior member of staff within your organisation. You know the date on which the information was released to the general public.

It is inconceivable and unacceptable that nobody within HS2 limited has the guile to locate such a significant document within 18 hours of commencing a search.

Clearly you can further refine your search and it is within your capability to do so.

I therefore insist that rather than dismissing my request on the most spurious of grounds, please show some mettle, don't be so easily defeated and please approach the task in a positive manner.

I recommend that you should allocate to the task to a person with the ability to search your system with a wide range of relevant search terms that are likely to produce a swift positive result.

I look forward to receiving the information without further delay.

Yours sincerely,

S D Cross
