Date for new legislation enabling charitable companies to convert to CIO

We're waiting for Ali Godfrey to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Charity Commission for England and Wales,

I would like to request that you provide the following information
under the Freedom of Information Act:

What is the planned launch date for the new legislation that will
enable a charitable company to convert to a Charitable Incorporated
Organisation (CIO)? (Your website and the Office for Civil Society
website state "2014").

Has a date been fixed? If so could you provide me with minutes or
documentation evidence?

If not, can I have access to the minutes of meetings where the most
up-to-date proposed timeframe has been discussed?

Yours faithfully,

Ali Godfrey

Carroll, Liam, Charity Commission for England and Wales

Dear Ali Godfrey

Thank you for your recent email. I am sorry that I could not respond
sooner. I understand that you would like to know the planned launch date
for new legislation that will enable a charitable company to convert to a
Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

You also ask:

Has a date been fixed? If so could you provide me with minutes or
documentation evidence?

If not, can I have access to the minutes of meetings where the most
up-to-date proposed timeframe has been discussed?

Given the nature of the request we have treated this as a request for
information under the Freedom of Information Act (the Act). The Act
imposes a duty, set out in section 1 (1) (a) to confirm or deny whether we
hold this information. In this instance we do not appear to hold
information relevant to your request.

The Office for Civil Society (OCS) is the lead department in promoting the
secondary legislation necessary for the Commission to implement
conversions of charitable companies to CIO status.  We have not been
provided with a timetable, but we do not expect implementation to commence
until next year. We have not met with OCS to discuss the timetable (and
therefore do not have any minutes to release), which is dependent on OCS’s
own work plan and commitments.

I hope that this is sufficient for your needs but should I have
misunderstood your request in any way then please let me know.

Yours sincerely

Liam Carroll
