Dear Mr Geen,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request dated 13/11/19 in which
you requested the following information:-

Please provide the following information regarding the use of the prison
library at HMP Parkhurst

1.            How many individuals used the library each year 2010-2018

2.            How many books in total were borrowed from the prison
library for each year 2010-2018

3.            How many fiction novels were borrowed each year 2010-2018

4.            What were the most 50 borrowed fiction novels for each year
2010-2018

5.            How many times were each of the top 50 borrowed fiction
novels issued each year 2010-2018

As you can see I have attached lists of the Top 50 fiction titles issued
each year since 2010.

Pleas find below a table detailing the users and issue figures for each of
the years in question:-

Year Users Book issues Fiction issues
2010 - 11 9,845 17,332 3,963
2011 - 12 8,600 14,589 3.903
2012 - 13 10,107 16,470 4,192
2013 - 14 12,472 11,439 2,606
2014 - 15 15,960 24,699 6,954
2015 - 16 15,687 22,536 6,889
2016 - 17 15,875 25,537 7,987
2017 - 18 14,585 22,673 7,022
2018 - 19 14,535 19,323 6,778

There is an obvious anomaly in issues to user figures for 2013-2014. This
is when the library moved from one side of the prison to the other and we
had to wait for an IT cable so that we could use the IT circulation
system. I hope that  this information meets your requirements.

Please contact me again if you need any further help.
