Dear Elisha
Many thanks for your email.
We dispose of any confidential data and information via Cheshire West and Chester Council. Any such waste is disposed of in the appropriate containers and bags and is then shredded by Cheshire West.
Our data protection compliance is set out in the attached policy.
I hope this helps.

Dear [email address],
Thank you :)
The attachment was very helpful.
Just to clarify, you said physical data is put into bags and containers. Are these bags and containers owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council? How do you keep the bags secure whilst filling them? How do you arrange for collection of the bags? Are the containers locked?
Do the town council pay a fee for Cheshire West and Chester Council in relation to disposal of confidential data? Is the arrangement in the form of a formal contract or not.
Yours sincerely,
e cliff
Dear Elisha
Yes, the bags are owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council. Bags are filled under my supervision and are placed in a locked bin prior to collection by Cheshire West staff.
There is no formal contract - a fee is paid, based on the quantity of waste to be disposed of.
Best regards
Mark

Dear Mark,
Thanks again for answering super speedily. Hope you don't mind but I still have a few questions:-
Who can open the bin which you store the bags within? Do you keep a key to this?
And what about the containers, can you confirm they are owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council too? And are they secure?
Could you tell me what 'exactly' the fee is for? (shredding/use of containers/bags or do they provide other help/assistance).
Thanks :) you've been very helpful
Elisha
Dear Elisha
The bin is opened by Cheshire West and we do not have a key.
The 'containers' referred to in my first email reply to you were, in fact, the bins referred to in subsequent replies.
The fee is for disposal of the waste which is via shredding. Cheshire West staff also remove the waste from our offices.
Best regards
Mark
